Mātauranga Māori

What a great question - the issue for me - and I have been in what feels like dozens of discussion around this - especially with Evelyn Tobin, past LIAC commissioner - and more recently with Haromi Williams , current LIAC commissioner, is when is a public library going to take up the challenge by finding the appropriate partners to build a web property around Mātauranga Māori - i.e forget bi/lingual navigation - or a really neat section on Māori issues - but a true singing dancing te reo web property which though immersed in the inputs and outcomes of the public library tradition, are about building and managing a constituency with a totally different world view?

Actually, to be fair I know of one regional library who is looking at this idea very colsely. Moreover, it's not beyond the reach of our imagination to see the Auckland Super city library world taking some leadership in this?

Evelyn also did a brilliant session at a LIANZA conference. It was filmed with a view to being put on line but I cant find it. Does anyone know where it is? Speaking of LIAC, Also, Haromi Williams, a current LIAC Commissioner has this to say as part of her profile on the LIAC site:

One to last, I think this is an area which the *Aotearoa People's Network*Kaharoa is looking to do some work in, especially with the new marae based partners? But again, others might be able to comment on this .
